‘We must debate the juvenile criminal law in March,’ Rossi

Kirchnerite Lawmaker, Agustín Rossi.

The head of the Lower House Kirchnerite bloc, Agustín Rossi, affirmed that “there is absolut coincidence in creating a new juvenile criminal law” and added that “we have to debate this issue at Congress in March.”

Rossi told reporters that the bill to create a criminal law was debated by two committees during 2010, so “it is in conditions to be debated at the floor in the first days of March.”

“The majority of our bloc decided that we should lower the age to 16 years old in the criminal law. We agree with most of the caucuses: Proyecto Sur, Nuevo Encuentro, Socialist Party and the Civic Coalition,” he continued.

The lawmaker also said that “lowering the age or increasing the punishments to minors is a discussion that counts with several theories and arguments.”
