'Age of criminal responsibility should be lowered', Macri
City mayor Mauricio Macri agreed that the age of criminal responsibility should be lowered, and mentioned that,
Macri went on to say that regarding juvenile criminal laws, “there is a huge lack of lawmaking by the State”.
The age of criminal responsibility has undergone recent scrutiny and is being discussed between national and provincial governments, provoked by the goings on in Tolosa this Tuesday, when a youth committed a murder.
The current age for legally being able to prosecute a criminal minor is sixteen years-old in Argentina. Macri continued to comment on the consequences of the current law limitations impeded on criminal youths and said that, “unfortunately, society is failed by them (the delinquents) not being punished accordingly when they need to be”.
