'New trade agreements can stimulate Argentine economy'
With reference to trade agreements being made by the President in the Kuwait, Federal Planning Minister, Julio De Vido mentioned that, “it is hugely important because these agreements can stimulate Argentine economy,” in terms of trading and exports.
He highlighted the trade agreements being made on the Presidential tour of the Middle East, with next destination being Qatar, to show that Argentina could add value to export goods.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has begun negotiating with businessmen on her trip, and ensuring the promotion of the quality of Argentine export goods.
De Vido spoke of the agreement which will include, “incorporation of valuable links” alongside related matters to do with science and technology. He mentioned, “valuable links are very important, in giving the possibility to export products and add value to them,” he said.
He went on to say, “the nuclear sector will also need a strong presence related to technology exports, so the possibility of constructing a reactor is available, and there is sufficient energy to de-salt their sea water; taking into account that neither Kuwait nor Qatar have fresh water reserves”.
De Vido went on to bring up the agreement to import gas from Qatar, and said that it is, “a great possibility to obtain the quantity of gas we need for the country, giving us large amounts of gas, something we used to receive from Bolivian imports”.
