Total Basic Food Basket rises 16.2% in 2010

A standard household required a minimum income of 1,252.54 pesos in order to stay just above the poverty line in 2010, the Indec said.

The "total basic food basket" (CBT) was 16.2 percent more expensive in 2010 compared to the previous year. The CBT index is made up of a number of foodstuffs and services deemed essential for a family of four to survive a month.

On the other hand, the Basic Food Basket (CBA) index, which only includes foodstuffs, hit 578.58 pesos. The CBA moved up by 20 percent year-on-year.

During the last month of the year, the CBA rose 0.4 percent, while the CBT soared 0.67 percent.
