City government 'celebrates Mercosur's disapproval of xenophobia,' Rodríguez Larreta
Following the controversial declarations made by the city Mayor, Mauricio Macri, over the events in the Indo-Americano Park in the Villa Soldati neighbourhood, the city Chief of Cabinet, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, celebrated the disapproval of xenophobia made by the summit of Mercosur in Brazil this week. Following the comments made by the Mercosur, he also denied that the PRO admininistration had anything to do with the situation.
The statement was made by Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman, came about following Macri's remarks when criticising migration and drug trafficking.
"We don´t feel the decisions were made because of us. We totally agree with the disapproval of xenophobia and discrimination," mentioned Rodríguez Larreta, the City's Cabinet Chief.
The text from the Mercosur group ratified that "the necessity to guarantee respect and the promotion of rights for migrants and their families, regardless of their nationality, migratory status, ethnic origin, gender, age or anything else that could be considered to be discriminated against."
