Scioli puts anti-crime operation into action for summer
Buenos Aires Governor Daniel Scioli, presented "Operación Sol (Operation Sun) 2010-2011" in Mar del Plata and Pinamar, which will cover 16 town councils and which will affect 7 million police officers and corps.
The idea will be to cover the controlling and patrolling of the provincial highways. They have chosen the more touristic destinations, hoping to not affect local police stations. The project will involve over 7 million police officers.
In addition there will be 150 patrolling guards, 70 officers on motocycles, 30 quadbikes, 5 helicopters with their base en Chascomús, Mar del Plata, Pinamar, Santa Teresita and San Bernardo; and a plane with its base in La Plata. The total number of operation vehicles in action will make 606.
There will be vehicles sent by the Buenos Aires Province revenue service, Ministry of Health, and from other government sectors which will offer different services at the main tourist spots this summer.
