Protests and delays
Wednesday, December 15, 2010Pan American Highway and 9 de Julio re-opened
Protestors from the CCC social movement (Classist Combative Current) had cut off the Pan-American Highway completely at kilometre 37, at the Pilar branch.
The blockage conflicted with both road circulations, causing major traffic delays. All vehicles were affected and road speeds were particularly slow, running at only 20km/h.
In the city, a group of workers from the Posadas hospital and Personal Civic Union (UPCN) had totally blocked off traffic at the intersection of 9 de Julio and Moreno downtown, in aid of their protest for more assistance plans.
Alem at 600 had also been cut off by another protest outside of the Ministry of Labour.
The manifestation had blocked off the area of 9 de Julio in front of the Ministry of Social Development, in the southern direction of Constitución station.
The central area blockages have been lifted, and those of the Pan American Highway, however traffic could still be slow.
