Boudou to travel to France to initiate negotiations with Paris Club
Economy Minister Amado Boudou will travel next week to France in order to initiate formal negotiations to pay off the Paris Club debt of 6.5 billion dollars.
Ministry's sources confirmed that, although it was set to take place on December 9, the formal meeting will be held on December 13.
Boudou will head to Paris on Sunday 12 and will meet with the head of the Club, Ramón Fernández, to begin working on the definition of the total mount of the debt, because the 6.5 billion dollars represent the debt by the end of 2001, when Argentina stopped paying.
Paris Club diplomatic sources told the press that they were willing that the payment of the debt would be done within the next 18 months, with a first payment that would reach half of the total. The Argentine government answered that it would be a "realistic negotiation" without affecting the country's economy.
