Seven days

By Michael Soltys / Senior Editor
FRIDAY. Argentina’s soccer squad under its new coach beats Brazil 1-0 in an Asian friendly but of rather more consequence to our giant neighbour, its Supreme Court acquits scandal-stricken President Michel Temer over campaign irregularities.

LAST WEEKEND. The main news is in France where the new President Emmanuel Macron sweeps the first round of the legislative elections and tennis superstar Rafael Nadal wins his 10th Roland Garros.

MONDAY. Pay talks between the Buenos Aires provincial government and teachers once again break down.

TUESDAY. The Justicialist Party executive accepts the right of ex-minister Florencio Randazzo to run in its PASO primary, thus making uncontested Peronist primaries impossible for ex-president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

WEDNESDAY. Teachers strike and snarl traffic with downtown marches. INDEC statistics bureau announces 9.2 percent unemployment for the first quarter of the year. Clarín’s Ernestina Herrera de Noble dies at the age of 92.

THURSDAY. The PASO deadline for filing alliances expires in the morning with CFK having registered a non-Peronist front the previous day.
