Consumer confidence plunges 27.2% in worst decline this year

The consumer confidence index plunged 27.2 percent in November compared with the same month last year, representing the worst decline this year, the Centre of Financial Investigations from the Torcuato Di Tella University’s Business School reported today.

The index showed a fall of 4.6 percent compared to the previous month.

Juan José Cruces, the centre’s director, said that “in the year-to-year comparison, the index shows a fall of 27.2 percent compared to November, 2015, while it registered a 0.6 percent rise compared to November, 2014.”

"Geographically, the consumer confidence is higher in Buenos Aires City by 8.4 percent, and declines 6 percent in Greater Buenos Aires, while it falls 8.4 percent in the rest of the country, always compared to the previous month,” he added.
