Government secures deal with businesses to freeze job layoffs until March

During a roundtable with leaders of the CGT umbrella union and business chambers, the government today secured a deal to freeze job layoffs until March, 2017.

In a news conference held after the so called Dialogue Roundtable for the Production and the Employment, Labor Minister Jorge Triaca considered the event “productive” adding union leaders expressed their concern about the creation and preservation of employment.

This tripartite negotiating space was launched on October 19 when an agreement created a 2,000 bonus for private workers, and caused the suspension of a national strike which had been called by the CGT umbrella union.
