UDOCBA teachers in the province of Buenos Aires have announced a strike for Tuesday 12 to demand the government reopens wage talks. “Walkout will be total, there will be no classes,” union leaders warned.

In statements to the Radio 10 station, head of the UDCOBA union Miguel Díaz today explained there is a discrepancy of at least "8 percent" between what "the salary hike teachers were paid and current inflation numbers."

“A significant portion of the salary is black money. More than 30 percent of teachers don’t reach the poverty line and are making 9,800 pesos,” he pointed out.

The UDOCBA leader demanded a basic salary of 13,000 pesos for teachers and questioned the administration of BA province Governor María Eugenia Vidal for failing to invest in education.
