Milagro Sala, the leader of the Túpac Amaru social organization, accused President Mauricio Macri and Jujuy province Governor Gerardo Morales of “using” the culture of Carnival festivities “to gain popularity.”

“It is wrong to make politics during our Carnival and, above all, the political use of Carnival is very wrong,” Sala said in a statement that was released today in social networks as she remains in prison.

“It is a dire prediction to mix up Carnival with politics to gain popularity and a lack of respect to our believes to mix politics with something as sacred as everything that has to do with the Pachamama is, just like Morales and Macri did in Purmamarca and in the Quebrada of Humahuaca.” the Parlasur lawmaker said in a document entitled “Reflections from prison.”
