Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman has sent two letters, one to US Secretary of State John Kerry and the other one to EU Foreign Affairs representative Federica Mogherini, asking them to confirm whether sanctions against Iranian former Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi will be lifted, following the newly signed agreements with Iran.

Vahidi is charged for allegedly being one of the people responsible of planning the 1994 AMIA Jewish centre attack.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the United States and the European Union will lift sanctions against ten former Iranian officials, after the agreement signed with Iran over its nuclear proliferation program. Vahidi would be one of the officials who would benefit from the amnesty.

In the letters sent, Timerman asks the US and the EU to confirm if the sanctions against Vahidi would be lifted, clarifying his alleged role in the 1994 bombing.
