FpV to support neither Larreta nor Lousteau in BA City run off
Mariano Recalde held a press conference today to announce the Victory Front (FpV) was not supporting any of the two candidates to Buenos Aires City mayor who will be facing each other in the July 19 run off, saying both Horacio Rodríguez Larreta (PRO) and Martín Lousteau (ECO) were part of the same political force.
In his message, the head of Aerolíneas Argentinas who got a third place in the City elections failing to reach a run off against winner Larreta, expressed his gratitude for the support of the "400,000 City neigbours" that voted for him in the elections but warned the FpV was not the “owner” of the votes.
“We have been asked many times what we are going to do with our votes; they are not our votes neither we consider ourselves the owners of our voters,” Recalde said considering the run off “particular,” bringing to the electoral contest a “primary” of a “recently created alliance called Cambiemos.”
“If we vote for Rodríguez Larreta (Mauricio) Macri wins, but if we vote for Lousteau, Macri also wins,” Recalde warned alluding to the so called “Cambiemos” coalition that Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri sealed with Ernesto Sanz (UCR) and Elisa Carrió (Civic Coalition) to compete in the presidential elections, having both Larreta and Lousteau as its members.
“It is the same product they are trying to sell us with a different bottle,” he added pointing out the FpV decided to support "neither of the two candidates,” seeking to “continue consolidating our space” in the City.
Urging Martín Lousteau to say “who” was pressuring him to step down from the run off, Recalde stressed the FpV would not tell its voters what to do, ratifying its position that both Recalde and Lousteau represent the same political force.
