Automobile Transport Union (UTA) Secretary General Roberto Fernández admitted that the sector's strike due for the first week of June.

“There is going to be a protest action but we know nothing is going to happen because within the government it is believed to be one more strike. But people are getting tired and this will explode some other day. It seems they are looking for it.”

In statements to media, Fernández considered that if the Executive Power “doesn´t want the salary talks to be free then they should launch a decree.”

“We wouldn´t like that but at least that would be a determination and it would allow us to manage ourselves on the subject,” he added and fired: “This government one way or another wants to put pressure on us.”

Also, he accused President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Economy Minister Axel Kicillof of “very hurtful statements that offend dignity.” He asserted that transport unions were neither supporter nor opponents to the government and that they "only want the State to listen to them and talk but sadly it is absent.”

According to Fernández, the problem behind the salary dispute is inflation and the fact that the government wants to"hide it under the carpet." He also expressed that “that is the reason there should be a national agreement with the main presidential candidates because otherwise I don´t know how the winner is going to rule the country.”
