Transport unions call for June walkout

The CATT transport union has called for a 24-hour walkout for the first week of June to demand collective bargaining talks to be held "without conditions." Among other protest slogans, unionized workers will protest against income tax and inflation.

“We decided to carry out a strike on the first week of June and we will try to set coordinate (actions) with main unions,” head of the dredging workers' union Juan Carlos Schmidt told the press this morning.

Transport unions were pushing to reach a major agreement with other labour movement sectors, mainly those commanded by leaders of the anti-government splinters of the CGT labour confederation and the CTA central of workers, Hugo Moyano, Luis Barrionuevo and Pablo Micheli respectively.
