Burnt body found near Le Parc II tower

The burnt corpse of a woman was found metres away from the Le Parc II apartment building of late AMIA special prosecutor Alberto Nisman in Puerto Madero.

The woman was reported to be 1.65 metres tall and was believed at first to have died due to electrocution, since she was discovered next to an electrical sub-station.

“Her body was burnt to the point that it unrecognizable,” said SAME emergency services director Alberto Crescenti to Radio Continental.

The corpse was discovered yesterday at 2.40am by police officers after neighbours alterted emergency services. It was found near the corner of Avenida de los Italianos and Marta Lynch streets — metres away from the apartment where Nisman was found dead on January 18.

Firefighters were called onto the scene for help.

The SAME director believed the body must have touched “something with high voltage,” but that the autopsy would confirm the exact cause of death.

However, evidence found hours later seemed to indicate a new hypothesis, as representatives from the Edesur power company rejected versions that she had been electrocuted.

Electrical operators examined the substation for 45 minutes after the police requested their assistance. After examining the station, they ruled out the possibility of electrocution as the station did not have any failures, claiming the artifact could not have generated a charge large enough to kill a person.

Investigators discovered a container with the smell of gas near her body and a plastic bottle with the inscription “ethanol alcohol” on it. Although they could not provide a new hypothesis after the discovery, the three security cameras of the area will be reviewed in order to determine what happened.
