Fuel sellers: Sector has a 'very limited income'

The head of the Argentine Confederation of Fuel Sellers, Luis Malchiodi, said that sales “declined significantly” this year, affecting gas stations’ profit margins. He linked the drop in oil retail prices recently announced by the government to international prices, and warned that the sector has a “very limited income.”

Malchioldi said that “there has been a pretty significant decline in fuel sales. A 10% drop in gas and 12% in gas-oil” this year.

He said that the 5% drop in prices agreed between the government and oil companies last week to begin on January 1 “will last for as long as international prices remain low” and he warned that gas stations “have a very limited income” and “are not in a position to lose profit.”
