BA Subway workers to launch rolling strike tomorrow

The Subte and Premetro Workers Association (AGTSyP) have confirmed rolling strike action on the capital's subway lines for tomorrow, starting at 5 am.

The B subway line union leader Claudio Dellacarbonara announced the walkout in a press conference today and said that they would call it off if representatives from the Ministry of Labour agreed to a meeting.

An emergency meeting was later held with representatives from the Ministry, but delegates were unable to come to an agreement and decided to go ahead with the stoppage as originally announced.

Dellecarbonara explained that the strike was decided after the Ministry suspended a hearing in which AGTSyP was to plea for its legal entity as a union, which is currently only recognized to UTA transport union.

“We think there is no reason to cancel the hearing,” he said. “This is the second or third time that they cancel the hearing.”
