Senate hails US-Cuba talks

The Senate has approved a draft declaration to hail the rapprochement between the US and Cuba, after the two countries announced the normalization of their bilateral relations after over five decades of US embargo against the island.

In the document, which was unanimously approved, the Senate welcomed the “historic agreement” between the two nations aimed at achieving a “diplomatic openness.”

It also praised the “key role played by Pope Francis” in the “restoration of dialogue” and reaffirmed Argentina’s support to Cuba in its claims to end the US embargo against the island.
