The former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev said that the US needs a series of reforms similar to the URSS’ Perestroika, carried out during his rule in the 80s. He pointed out that even though there is no risk for a global large-scale armed, “the Cold War has resumed.”

“The US needs an enemy in order to return to their old policy of pressure. They can’t live without it. They are still enslaved by their old policy,” Gorbachev said in an interview with RT speaking about the Ukraine crisis. He stated that the US is looking for “some pretext to interfere.”

“They need an enemy figure, and they are doing it again,” he stressed. “They need a Perestroika,” he stated. “They can call it any name they want.”

The former leader urged the world to “stop the US” but “as partners, as friends.”
