Public bank workers go on 48-hour strike

The Asociación Bancaria union confirmed a 48-hour strike for public banks across the country tomorrow and on Friday, demanding the payment of a 7,500-pesos wage bonus that has already been paid to workers of private banks.

The union has reached an agreement with the country’s private banks association (ADEBA), foreign banks association (ABA) and specialized banks gathered in ABE for the bonus to be paid on January 5.

The walkout will affect the following banks which have not agreed on the extra payment: Banco Nación, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Municipal de Rosario, Credicoop, Bica, Coinag, Formosa, Chubut, Chaco, Corrientes, Bice, Caja Popular de Tucumán, Neuquén, Tierra del Fuego and the Central Bank.
