Pablo Moyano has confirmed teamsters will be launching a “24 or 48 hour strike” for the end of the year in response to the government’s determination to not modify Argentina’s income tax scheme, a protest slogan that led to today's 3-hour walkout in all public transportation services.

“Union members already voted to make a general strike of 24 or 48 hours before the end of the year,” Pablo Moyano announced in statements to media this morning following today’s walkout that affected early-morning commuters.

“We wanted a gesture from the President (Cristina Fernández de Kirchner) for December, but that did not happen,” teamsters’ leader Moyano said alluding to a long-standing demand by unions to have the so called “aguinaldo” payment– a salary bonus workers receive in June and December -, exempted from income tax deductions.
