Cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich said today that the government has not received an official response from the US to the harsh letter president Kirchner sent to her counterpart Barack Obama demanding an explanation for the appointment of Nancy Soderberg as Chair of the US Public Interest Declassification Board.

In her letter, Ms. Kirchner asked Obama to confirm whether Soderberg was also the Co-Chair of the American Task Force Argentina (ATFA), “an entity specifically created to attack and slander the Argentine Republic and its President", and said that if so, "it would have grave implications for relations” between the two countries.

“We have not received any formal response from the president of the United States,” Capitanich said to reporters today in his daily press briefing at the government house. “It will be officialy announced when –if– we receive an answer,” he added.
