Vilas: ‘I would accept to coach Davis Cup team’
Argentine tennis icon Guillermo Vilas has said he “would not have any problems” coaching the Davis Cup team together with José Luis Clerc after current coach Martín Jaite leaves the team following the match against Israel for World Group permanence.
“If I’m offered the position I would accept it. I would not have any problems sharing the coaching position with Cler, either,” Vilas, who had lifetime differences with the Argentine Tenis Association (AAT) directives, told reporters today.
“Willy”, the most successful Argentine tennis player in history, said he and Clerc meet regularly and that Argentina “deserves to win a Davis Cup.”
