At least 12 killed, 3 wounded in crash in Santiago del Estero
At least 12 people died and three were severely injured when a minibus and an YPF cistern-truck collided on National Route 9, in southern Santiago del Estero province, near the town of El Simbol.
One of the teachers treated for serious injuries in the province's Ramón Carrillo hospital passed away, taking the death toll up to 12 after the horrific accident this morning.
The victima was identified as Giselle Gómez, 27, who as confirmed by the Santiago police worked in a school in the town of Manogasta.
At 7.40 am a minibus from San Esteban firm carrying 15 rural teachers from Santiago del Estero city to the southern town of Loreto crashed head-on with a cistern-truck.
The deceased were transferred to Loreto’s morgue, the hometown of most of the passengers, while the wounded were admitted at the local hospital.
