CFK praises ‘satellite sovereignty’ on Twitter

ARSAT1 will be launched into space from French Guiana.
ARSAT1 will be launched into space from French Guiana.

Following the presentation of ARSAT 1, the first satellite fully developed in Argentina, president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner posted a new series of tweets about it today. “We speak of satellite sovereignty because the UK was after one of the two orbital positions that Argentina managed to retain for its satellites,” she said.

Ms. Kirchner’s official Twitter and Instagram accounts published a series of pictures of the Antonov AN124, the plane that is taking the satellite to French Guiana, where it will be launched into space.

“ARSAT1 is the first geostationary satellite fully designed, built and tested in the country,” the president tweeted.
