Ciudad wins and qualifies
A territorially even first half ended with Ciudad 2-0 with unmarked Yanina Rojas opening the score in 19 minutes with a hard shot and Noel Barrionuevo netting a penalty for a footfault in the last minutes. There were few goal situations, but Ciudad came nearer to scoring. Also, Banco Nación sometimes did not mark so closely.
Banco Nación fought back for 10 minutes in the second half, but Yanina Rojas scored her second field goal after three minutes, putting her on 11 this season — two behind the top scorer, Banco Provincia’s Eliana González whose team won 2-1 at Santa Bárbara to move into the top six playoff places. Ciudad’s fourth goal was again a penalty stroke in the last minute of the game, this time netted by Carla Rebecchi.
Perhaps the 4-0 score flattered Ciudad, but it also played more open hockey. Newly-promoted Banco Nación forced four corners to three, but is still not clear of relegation problems.
GEBA’s goals came through Daniela and Josefina Sruoga, Paula Fantasía Gomes’ 10th goal, Carla Dupuy and Geraldine Fresco Pisani with Hurling in a three-way relegation fight with Lomas and Santa Bárbara, who are all within a point of each other. A 2-1 win by Belgrano at Hacoaj moved them slightly away from danger.
