Argentine tourist shot in Colombia's San Andrés
An Argentine tourist was shot when resisting a robbery in the Colombian island of San Andrés where he was spending his holidays along with his pregnant wife. Luciano Narcisi was injured in the stomach and arm.
The incident took place on Thursday’s afternoon but was made public today.
29-year-old Narcisi and his five-month pregnant wife were waiting for a bus to take them back from the beach to the hotel.
“In the central area of San Andrés, the couple was about to take the bus to return to the hotel and a masked man in a motorcycle approached them,” Argentina’s consul to Bogotá Sebastián Coronel told media today.
According to Coronel, the thief first attacked the woman seeking to steal her belongings. Narcisi then tried to stop him and “unfortunately in the scuffle he received two gunshots.” He was transferred to a nearby hospital where he had to undergo surgery.”
The consul explained that medical authorities said the Argentine tourist was “out of danger and stabilizing” by Saturday and confirmed Luciano’s father Gabriel Narcisi was arriving in Bogotá today where he will be assisted by Argentina’s authorities there to arrange a transfer to a Bogotá hospital or to Buenos Aires.
Luciano’s wife, the diplomat added, and the baby were "fine" although she fell to the floor during the theft attempt and suffered only a scrape.
