Pope Francis meets Argentine Gaza priest
Pope Francis has met with Jorge Hernández, the Argentine parish priest who leads the Sacred Family in Gaza, the only Catholic church in the conflict-hit zone.
Hernández gave refuge to 29 children and some old people during Israel’s recent offensive in Gaza, home to 2,500 Christians.
The Vatican has provided media with no further information about the meeting.
Back in July, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner announced the government was making Tel Aviv responsible for the safety of the Argentine priest and warned that any harm done to him “will have severe consequences for bilateral relations.”
