'Blue' dollar drops 33 cents to 14.05 pesos

The blue dollar rate which trades in the informal market today dropped 33 cents to 14.05 pesos after a quiet session yesterday due to a nationwide strike staged by anti-government unions.

Yesterday’s strike led to few operations in the informal market with less traders seeking for greenbacks. The so called “blue” dollar was sold at 14.38 pesos with the gap between the official and the parallel rates reaching 67 percent.

The official rate meanwhile closed steady in Buenos Aires City and foreign exchange offices at 8.42 pesos closing a week marked by Central Bank interventions in the market to stem the rise of the official rate and keep international reserves flow steady.

Today, the blue chip swap dropped 11 cents to 12.84 pesos while the stock exchange rate closed at 13 pesos.
