Arruabarrena, the main candidate
To take the reins of Boca Juniors is always a big challenge for any coach. But to take this Boca after its most successful coach was fired it is not something that happens every day.
The new coach has to know that he will not have much time to change this team, which has shown poor performances in the first five games of this new season (including the Copa Argentina) and disappointing results. President Daniel Angelici said he wants to announce the new trainer today, but for Sunday’s match against Vélez Sarsfield, one of the tournament’s best teams, Hugo Ibarra and Sergio Saturno will be in charge of the squad.
The main candidate to become the new coach is Rodolfo “el Vasco” Arruabarrena, a young trainer who was a Boca player during Bianchi’s first stint in the club.
Arruabarrena is coach of Nacional of Uruguay, his second club. His managing career started in Tigre in 2011.
With the tournament already started, “el Vasco” could be the best choice for the officials, as the fans will not criticize the decision of hiring a former player of the club.
Arruabarrena won three league titles and one Libertadores Cup playing for Boca with Bianchi as his coach.
