Carlos Bianchi sacked as Boca Juniors coach

Legendary Boca Juniors coach Carlos Bianchi's third spell with the club has come to an end, after the decision was taken by president Daniel Angelici and the board of directors to relieve him of his post.

"We have to inform you of a very difficult decision taken unanimously by the board. First I would like to thank Carlos personally for accepting the challenge to return to the club for the third time," Angelici told reporters at a press conference held this evening.

"it is with great pain that we have taken the decision to rescind Carlos' contract, but we understand that we have to bring this spell to an end and tomorrow start to look for a trainer."

Bianchi, whose Boca team have lost three of their four matches so far in the Transición Championship and were knocked out of the Copa Argentina by Huracán, was removed despite a previous meeting with the club chief, who assured that he would stay on until the weekend at least.

The coach had told Angelici, as he asserted following yesterday's 3-1 reverse to Estudiantes, that he wished to lead the team against Vélez this Sunday, but the board forced his hand and sacked the four-time Copa Libertadores winner.
