INDEC reveals supermarket sales up 35% in July

Figures released from the National Statistics and Census Institute (INDEC) have revealed that supermarket sales increased a total of 35 percent in July compared to the same month in 2013, reaching a total of 14.74 billion pesos.

According to the institute's figures, however, when comparing month by month revenues fell, dropping 0.5 percent on the sales recorded in June.

The data collected by INDEC is compiled from information provided by 68 businesses.

The state statistics agency also published results for shopping malls, which registered a monthly fall of 9.1 percent over July compared to June.

Malls recorded a total of 2.67 billion pesos in sales, 17.5 percent higher than the same month in 2013.
