The governor of Buenos Aires province Daniel Scioli said “it is a sad day” because of the national strike called by opposition unions, with plants that have “pulled down shutters” and workers on the streets.

Scioli called business leaders and trade unions to act in a “socially responsible” way and urged “all sectors” to “put the country ahead of their demands.”

“Today is a sad day, with workers on the streets, plants that have pulled down its shutters,” Scioli said speaking at the Council of the Americas conference in Buenos Aires City.

The governor praised the “effort made in the past years to put Argentina on its feet” and made a call for “prudence.”
