US dollar trades steady at 8.42 pesos
The US dollar traded steady and closed at 8.42 pesos in Buenos Aires City banks and foreign exchange offices. Low market activity was expected due to bank workers’ adherence to the national strike, affecting operations in financial entities in the country.
Meanwhile, the “blue” dollar traded at the same rate it did yesterday, when it hit a new record mark and closed at 14.38 pesos in a quiet market.
The informal rate advanced 18 cents yesterday, pushed by hikes in the blue-chip swap rate and stock exchange rate.
The blue-chip swap rate today fell back two cents to 12.95 pesos, while the stock exchange rate stepped back 16 cents to close at 13 pesos.
The gap between the official rate and the so-called “blue” dollar stayed at 71%.
