Sorry Boca crash to another home defeat

Misfiring Boca Juniors recorded their second straight home defeat in the Transición Championship, as Atlético Rafaela destroyed the Buenos Aires giants 3-0 to heap further pressure on coach Carlos Bianchi just three games into the season.

Boca, who after losing to Newell's in the Bombonera bounced back with a 1-0 reverse of Belgrano in Córdoba, endured a defensive horror show to go down once more in front of their own fans.

Uruguayan defender Mauricio Gómez opened the scoring for the visitors 36 minutes into the first half, when his free-kick was deflected past the stranded Agustín Orión in the Xeneize net.

The hosts tried to work their way back into the game, but a paucity of ideas up front meant that Rafaela were always comfortable. Two further counter-attacks after the break sealed the game for the Crema.

Federico González and ex-Boca youngster Guillermo Pol Fernández added the second and third of the evening, and the Xeneize were greeted by a wall of jeers and boos from the terraces as the team sunk without trace.

Boca currently languish 16th in the Primera División standings after this latest defeat, with three points from a possible nine.
