‘Pipi’ Romagnoli signs contract
Leandro Romagnoli, San Lorenzo’s captain in the Libertadores Cup final, signed a two-year contract with the club from Boedo yesterday.
The midfielder, who returned from Brazil after cancelling his contract with Bahía of that country, will join his teammates in the training session today.
“Pipi” had signed a contract with Bahía before winning the Libertadores Cup with San Lorenzo. However, the chance of playing the Club World Cup in December changed the midfielder’s mind.
The negotiations were not easy, because he had to pay US$500,000 to the Brazilian club to cancel the deal. The club authorities understood the player’s situation and decided to let him go.
San Lorenzo has left the celebration behind and focused in the Argentine league. It did not have the best start, as it lost 2-0 against Racing last week in Avellaneda. In its second match — for the third round of the tournament — the team coached by Edgardo Bauza will host Banfield tomorrow. The trainer did not confirm the team, but Romagnoli will be available if Bauza wants him.
