'Macri more in tune with vultures, Griesa than with Argentina’s interests'

Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich bashed Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri for his remarks against the national government’s plan to reopen the debt swap, replacing the Bank of New York Mellon with local Banco Nación as trustee.

“(Macri) has always been more in tune with vulture funds and (US) judge Thomas Griesa than with Argentina’s interests,” Capitanich said in his daily press briefing at government house when asked about the Mayor’s announcement that the bloc he leads, PRO party, will not support the Executive’s bill in Congress.

Capitanich referred to Macri’s criticism about this new swap being “a short-term solution” that would “make the economic situation worse” by saying that “more harm would do the triggering of RUFO clause.”
