Cobos says UNEN-PRO alliance 'practically impossible'
UCR Congressman and Presidential pre-candidate Julio Cobos said an alliance between UNEN and Buenos Aires City mayor Mauricio Macri’s PRO party is “practically imposible” and urged his Broad Front colleagues to focus on “a concrete proposal for the citizens” and stop “wasting effort.”
“[A deal] with PRO seems practically impossible. It would mean a lack of coherence,” Cobos said. He stressed that Macri’s bloc has voted “very differently” from UCR and socialist lawmakers in “substantial” issues such as the nationalization of Argentina's flag carrier Aerolíneas Argentinas, energy firm YPF and AFJP private pension funds.
“I no longer want to talk about Macri,” Cobos said after yesterday’s UNEN meeting in Mendoza province to celebrate the anniversary of the death of national hero José de San Martín.
“We are wasting our effort and with everything that is going on in the country I doubt this could interest citizens,” he added.
