'A faction of UCR and Carrió are leading UNEN towards destruction'
National Senator Fernando “Pino” Solanas referred to the tensions between the leaders of Broad Front UNEN over a potential alliance with PRO party. “A sector of UCR and [Elisa] Carrió are leading [UNEN] towards its destruction,” he said.
Last week lawmaker Elisa Carrió walked out of a UNEN launch in Buenos Aires City as Solanas was strongly dismissing any deal with “modern right-wing parties”. In an interview with a local newspaper, Solanas said her attitude was “unacceptable” and that she seems “very upset”.
The head of Proyecto Sur party (Project South) explained that the majority of the eight parties of the Broad Front reject an alliance with Buenos Aires City mayor Mauricio Macri’s PRO and accused Carrió and a faction of the UCR of encouraging a deal, “against everything they have been saying” and “leading UNEN towards destruction”.
Solanas described Macri’s party as “highly corrupted”, with a “questionable institutional behaviour”.
