'AEA, UIA, COPAL represent the interests of concentrated powers'
Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich defended once again the series bill drafted by the Executive to amend laws that protect consumers and regulate companies and bashed its critics, mainly industrial leaders, saying they “represent the interests of concentrated powers”.
“AEA [Argentine Business Association], UIA [Argentine Industrial Union] or COPAL [Food Products Industries] represent the interests of concentrated groups,” Capitanich stated in his daily press briefing at government house.
“They are the same groups that opposed workers’ rights in the past who now oppose consumers’ rights,” he added.
The chief of ministers reiterated the importance of guaranteeing further state intervention saying that “if there are no state stimulus to regulate the value chain, a few take advantage of the effort of others”.
The official said that the government seeks to “guarantee efficient state regulation” to avoid “distortions in the value chain”.
