Labour Minister admits employment levels dropped

Labour Minister Carlos Tomada today admitted Argentina "is not having the same growing employment levels of the past years."

"We know there are trimmed sectors which are suffering obstacles in exports, which may affect job posts," the minister stated.

He assured so far 2014, "there haven't been more layoffs than in 2012 and 2013. The employment market in Argentina has got a more-than-reasonable stability. During other crisis, there were millions of unemployed."

Tomada underlined that within this context, the government "is seeking answers to stimulate the employment creation. We have a battery of actions aiming at favouring and stimulating registered jobs."

Tomada is scheduled to offer a press briefing at 5.30 this afternoon.
