Ebola death toll rises to 932, WHO Committee gathers in Geneva
The death toll from West Africa's Ebola outbreak has risen to 932 after 45 patients died from August 2 to August 4, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a statement.
The number of suspected, probable or confirmed cases rose by 108 over the same period to a total of 1,711. Most of the newly reported deaths were in Liberia while the number of cases in Nigeria climbed from 4 to 9, including one previous death.
The WHO Emergency Committee regarding Ebola is gathered in Geneve for a two-day meeting to discuss the epidemic and to determine whether it has become a “worldwide public health emergency”.
The Committe of renowned international experts is to analyze and decide on new measures to tackle de Ebola virus. It will release a statement with its conclusions on Friday.
