Sabbatella accuses PRO of protecting Clarín
Guillermo Durand Cornejo — Popular Conservative Front and PRO lawmaker for Salta filed a legal request this week to halt all of the plans presented by all media holdings to adjust to the Media Law, generating harsh reactions by AFSCA media watchdog head Martín Sabbatella.
“He should be ashamed to be a national lawmaker running errands for a businessman that seeks to evade the law until the last consequences” Sabbatella said yesterday.
Durand Cornejo signed the request — filed before a Salta Federal Court — as president of the Consumer’s Defence Committee (CODELCO). “If one starts to analyze that this person is the same one that managed to push forward an injunction against the Media Law in that same court in 2009, a person that belongs to the political party that made a custom-tailored law for (Clarín CEO Héctor) Magnetto in Buenos Aires City, it is clear that the last thing this person will have is shame,” the former Morón mayor said, adding: “Clarín is seeking desperately to avoid compliance with this law, which was passed by a democracy. They are realizing that the State is going all in to end their privileges.”
