At least one dead, 7 injured in Córdoba gas blast
At least one man was killed and seven people were injured due to an explosion at a power plant in the province of Córdoba causing also energy supply shortages in nearby areas.
According to first reports, an explosion at a major gas pipeline in the power plant of the Córdoba province locality of Pilar led to a strong blast and fire. All staff had to be evacuated.
Four firefighters squads were working at the accident site battling against 10-meter flames.
The mayor of the Pilar town Diego Bechis said those injured were being assisted at the Madre Teresa de Calcuta hospital showing second- and third-degree burns. Health Minister Francisco Fortuna said a woman and a child were hit by the flames due to the shock wave but were not in a serious condition.
Several nearby localities are being affected by power cuts.
