Banks' offer involves 'private agents only, not public sector'

Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich referred to the u$s 250-million payment offer made by national private banks as a last-minute proposal to holdout hedge funds to prevent Argentina from entering technical default. “It involves private agents only. Not the public sector,” he said.

With representatives of the ADEBA bank chamber expected to arrive in New York to make their offer to the holdouts today, the Kirchnerite official explained the move “involves private agents, not the public sector” adding futher information will be released through official channels.

“I do not think it is convenient to make any comments about it,” Capitanich said as debt negotiations continue behind closed doors. “Official information will be released through the Economy Ministry,” he added in his daily press briefing at the government house this morning.
