HBA hits 14th anniversary

Published on behalf of and sold by homeless or vulnerably housed people, Hecho en Bs. As., founded at the peak of the economic recession of the year 2000, is now celebrating its 14th anniversary with a show at “A cultivar que se acaba el mundo,” on Pasaje San Lorenzo in San Telmo.

Created to provide the homeless with a dignified job and income and, as a result, the possibility of housing and personal improvement, Hecho en Bs. As. was modelled after the UK’s The Big Issue, also sold for a small profit by people of meager or no income and poor or non existent housing.

The Hecho en Bs. As. anniversary event is scheduled for today, Saturday 26, from 2pm to 6pm. It includes debates on social enterprises and housing access, testimonies, live music and open mic.

Hecho en Bs. As. has sold over three million copies through some 3,500 vendors, who receive 85 percent of the cover price.
