Worker finally rescued after under construction building collapses
Staff of the SAME emergency service of the City raced against the clock to save a worker who got trapped when a building that was under construction near the intersection of Salta Street and Independencia Avenue, in the suburb of Constitución, fell to pieces.
The man was finally rescued from the wreckage and transferred to a nearby hospital in a SAME helicopter.
Head of the SAME service Alberto Crescenti confirmed another worker had being caught trapped too but rescuers managed to free him fast. He was being assisted at the Ramos Mejía hospital. Two other workers suffered injuries and were assisted by emergency teams.
In order to rescue the worker who remained trapped for two hours from the waist and below, a large security operation was set in the 9 de Julio Avenue with a SAME helicopter landing in one of the world’s widest avenues.
A 22-floor block of flats was under construction in the site where the accident took place today at around noon. At least six SAME ambulances, three firefighters squads and Federal police worked to assist the victims and prevent further damages, finally confirming no other person was still trapped.
